The Town of Bridgewater Rec Department announced that Games On The Go is back. Bridgewater residents can reserve 2 games by calling 543-2274 and you get them on Thursdays.
They’ve got the usual outdoor giant games of Jenga, Checkers/Chess, Yahtzee, Dominoes and Scrabble along with age-old favourites like Bean Bag Toss, Washer Toss, Croquet and Bocce Ball.
But there were 2 more that I’d never played or seen played that captured my imagination – Disc Slam and Ladder Ball.
Disc Slam is a 4 person game using a frisbee and two standing cylinders 50 feet apart where you try to get the frisbee through a slot in the standing cylinder. Meanwhile one of the opposing team can pick up points by being a deflector who can knock the frisbee into the top of the cylinder.
Ladder Ball, sometimes called Ladder Golf is played by 2 people 15 feet apart. You get 3 bolas which are just a pair of balls connected by rope and try to get them to wrap around a 3 runged ladder with the top rung worth 3 points, then the middle 2 points and the bottom rung 1 point.
What’s an outdoor lawn game that you’ve enjoyed? (remember, it’s No Mow May)
