Chester holds line on tax rates for fifth year in a row

Residents and businesses won’t see their taxes increased this year.

The Municipality of Chester will hold the line on its residential, commercial and sewer rates.

It’s the fifth year in a row without an increase.

Warden Allen Webber says the pandemic played a big role in shaping the budget but adds council continues to be responsive to non-profits and businesses.

The municipality plans to invest in developing a wastewater strategy for its central sewer systems and the universal rate will increase to $650 to help pay for future projects.

Meantime, washroom renovation at Wild Rose Park will place along with upgrades to trail bridges, and wharf repairs.

The municipality will continue with their commitment to active transportation with sidewalk extensions in several areas and cost sharing paved shoulders to Highway #3 during provincial road upgrades.
