Royalty Descends On Lunenburg

The Lunenburg Community centre was transformed into a magic kingdom last weekend.

Over a hundred little princesses met their Disney heroes at Lunenburg’s Royal Tea Party.

The event, held to benefit the Children’s Wish Foundation offered the tea party along with activities and a silent auction.

Wish Coordinator Jacob Rafuse says over $6000 was raised which will go towards granting wishes for terminally ill children.

“I’m working on a hundred wishes at the moment so I have a hundred kids on the go right now. And the number is not going down. The number is going up and up and up. Every week we’re getting new referrals.”

Rafuse says it’s a difficult but rewarding experience.

“It would be nice if I didn’t have a job. But it’s wonderful to be able to have this one moment in time on these families’ journeys to give that nice little break away from the treatments.”

Children’s Wish Foundation has previously hosted parties in Halifax and Yarmouth.

This is the first time the event was held in Lunenburg.

Rafuse says after the amazing turnout he hopes this will become an annual event.
