The last couple of days during this high heat I felt really bad for the road pavers (and especially the flag men and women) who were working on the highway in front of my house in these conditions.
I thought about some other professions that are not a lot of fun on super hot days.
The guys that ride on the back of the garbage trucks must have to deal with the heat and especially stronger smells on days like that.
I’ve worked on my roof during a heat wave and I’ve insulated an attic during one as well. Not sure which was worse but I’ll never do either of them again.
And restaurant kitchens! I remember making fish and chips in a not air conditioned small building at the Big Ex during a couple of heatwaves. It was brutal!
I’ve worn big heavy costumes in parades and at other public events and always wondered why the costume didn’t have fans to circulate the air.
And, finally, haying. How is it that working outside in the fields is not as bad as having to stack bales in the barn? The hay dust gets in everywhere!
Yep, haying has to be the worst job during a heatwave.
What do you consider the worst job on a hot day?
