Despite what you see out the window Environment Canada says don’t hold your breath for a white Christmas.
Meteorologist Barrie MacKinnon says it’s still possible, but not very likely.
“Looks like at this point this system around the 23rd or 24th could be another warm up trend so that could bring our chances down,” he says. “So, I’d pin it at a 40% chance that we’re going to see a white Christmas.”
MacKinnon says the system that’s coming through will be the deciding factor.
He says if it passes North of the Province any snow that’s left will likely melt.
But he says if the track shifts south it could bring one last dose of white just in time for the holidays.
He says if we do get that post card Christmas it will be the first time that’s happened in the region for more than five years.
