The Town of Lunenburg is stepping up their social media game.
Heather McCallum with Outside Communications Inc. was contracted at the last council meeting to help the town better interact with the public.
Mayor Rachel Bailey says council have wanted to improve communication with residents for some time.
“Making people more aware of what’s happening by using what many people use so actively and so readily – which has been a challenge for us as a municipal body to this point.”
Bailey says council wants to talk to people using tools they are comfortable with.
“We’re just looking to get started with making an official presence on social media and enabling that medium to better serve us and therefore, our citizens.”
Bailey says by engaging people in this way, residents can expect to have a clearer picture of what council is doing.
The name change on the town’s Facebook page is the first step.
Bailey says McCallum will also monitor the page to better communicate and receive feedback from residents.
