A Fan Of The Heat

I’ll admit it. I do not like air conditioning. I would much rather sit in the heat than the cold, no matter how hot and sweaty I get.

I know there are many other who feel differently, especially these last few days. But I like this weather. As for cranking the AC on hot days… no thanks.

It’s a pet peeve when I buy a car. And it’s not like you get a choice. Just try to find one without air conditioning. It’s not easy. Not only do I get the pleasure of paying for something I’ll rarely, if ever use, I also get to spend even more money paying the government an environmental fee or something I never wanted in the first place.

Now, part of that is the fact that I am forced to sit in an office that is kept at a lovely 20 degrees year round. Some people love it. I find it too cold. Parts of my body get absolutely frozen. I get the chills. I end up bringing sweaters to wear in the middle of July. However, my lack of comfort means nothing. That’s the temperature someone has decided is best and that’s what it will be.

So I spend many of my days shivering. Until I can get out into the heat. At which point you could see me driving around on a 30 degree day with the windows rolled up with a smile on my face. Soaking up all the heat that has been building up inside my car all day long.

I do have a fan at home that I used to move air around. It does cool things down a bit, but not to the point of air conditioning. That’s as far as I go.

So I’m starting to feel a bit sad these days. Before long, this lovely warm weather will go away. Not that I hate cooler weather. I like it. I don’t even mind winter weather. But hot summer days are still my favourite. The hotter the better.

Just remember to stay hydrated. Hand me the glass with the little umbrella.
