Campaign Signs Vandalized in Bridgewater

Some signs for the local Liberal candidate have been vandalized in recent days.

According to Bernadette Jordan’s campaign team, there were a few incidents of her signs being vandalized around the Bridgewater area this past week.

Campaign Manager Jason Rondeau says someone wrote explicit language and lewd images on some of the signs which they were disappointed to see, “These signs are put up by volunteers who take time out of their days to get out and support something they are passionate about so it’s disappointing to see something like this,”.

Also weighing in on the incident was Bridgewater Mayor David Mitchell who condemned the vandalism in a Facebook post. In it, he said, “Regardless of what we think about each party and each candidate, it is never okay to damage their signs,”.

Defacing election signs is a crime under the criminal code and Rondeau says they have informed police about the situation.

Anyone with information on the vandalism is asked to contact the Bridgewater Police Service.
