Suspect in hospital after Halloween party attack

An early morning attack at Halloween party sent the suspect to hospital after partygoers defended themselves.

Police say a 22-year-old New Glasgow man shot at a woman outside a home in Pictou just after 3:00 a.m. Sunday.

The woman wasn’t injured, ran inside and locked the door.

The man smashed the door’s window and came into the home, stabbing a person inside.

That person suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The man was tackled by people inside the home and suffered serious injuries. He remains in hospital.

Police say it was not a random act and the parties were known to each other.

A heavy police presence remains in the community while officer investigate, but police say there is no danger to the public.
