4H Community Forest Sells Out

The Brookside Cemetary in Bridgewater will be decorated for the holiday season once again as the local 4H club announced they’ve sold all the Christmas trees in their Community Forest.

The event serves as a fundraiser for the local 4H chapter who sells the trees to individuals or businesses who then get to decorate and display the trees where they can be enjoyed by the whole community.

Eva Cook organizes the event and she says it continues to grow each year, “Initially we had around 25 trees but now we have a lot of regulars who get a tree every year and we keep adding new people each Christmas.”

Cook says some of the people getting trees just want to decorate a tree and add to the holiday spirit of the community but many chose to get a tree to honour deceased loved ones.

Most of the 50 trees sold this year will be on display at the main community forest at the Brookside Cemetary and a few other trees will be placed in other locations around town.

Initially, the plan was for trees to be decorated early this week, however with the heavy rainfall expected over the next few days the deadline for trees to be decorated has been pushed back to this weekend.

All proceeds generated from the event go towards the local 4H chapter.
