The South Shore will see it’s first major snowfall, starting this afternoon.
The storm will touch down on our end of the province first, making it’s way toward Halifax, and eventually, landing in Cape Breton late tonight.
Jean-Marc Couturier, a forecaster with Environment Canada, says while the majority of the province is expecting 15 cm, parts of the South Shore could see more.
“The area between Shelburne, Queens and Lunenburg Counties could see as much as 25 [cm], so generally, we’re tagging 15-25 cm accumulation,” he says.
Flurries will start late this afternoon, with most of the accumulation of snow happening overnight.
Northeasterly winds will gust between 40-60 km/hr, Couturier says.
The high winds could cause blowing snow through the night and tomorrow morning.
