129 new cases as StFX outbreak grows

We’ve got another 129 new cases of COVID-19.

The province has temporarily reinstated weekend virus updates in the wake of the massive outbreak around Saint Francis Xavier University.

There are 64 cases in Central Zone, 52 in Eastern Zone, 10 in Northern Zone, and three in Western Zone.

However, many of the cases in the Halifax region are part of the StFX outbreak. That’s because many students still have a primary home address in that area.

Officials say most of the cases are in fully vaccinated young people, who are experiencing relatively mild symptoms.

Due to the outbreak, Public Health is requiring all close contacts, including those fully vaccinated, to isolate until they have a negative result, at least 72 hours after the exposure.
