Nova Scotia Reports 586 New Cases

Nova Scotia is reporting 586 new cases today, taking the provincial total of cases to 5,053.

The majority of new cases are in the Halifax area with 393 cases reported in the Central Zone. There were also 106 cases reported in the Eastern Zone, 56 in the Northern Zone and 31 in the Western Zone.

Despite a surge in cases, hospitalizations remain relatively low with only 24 cases currently being treated in hospital (including 3 in ICUs).

With recent changes in policy, NS Health is reminding people that test positive to contact their close contacts.

Public health will be prioritizing contact tracing in long-term care facilities, healthcare facilities, correctional facilities, shelters, and other group settings.

Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Robert Strang and Premier Tim Houston are expected to deliver an update on the situation on Thursday, December 30 at 3:00 p.m..
