Stocking Up

There’s a bit of snow in the forecast, so you know it could happen. The run of bread and milk at the grocery store.

I’ve never really understood it, but it does happen. Sure, it might be tough to get around for a day or so. Although the way the forecast seems to change, it’s pretty much a coin flip as to whether it will cause us any issues.

But it seems like every time there is the threat of a possible storm, the bread and milk all disappear. Maybe a few other things as well, but those two seem to lead the way.

I know the Emergency Measures people like to make sure we are prepared… just in case. And honestly, it is a good idea. But if we happen to get a big storm, I do not want to be sitting in the dark, chewing on a slice of bread. I’d much rather be huddled around the barbecue in a sheltered spot, out of the wind, warming my hands over a nice thick steak.

Yes, there always the chance that if the power goes out you can loose perishable items. That’s if it’s out for a while. But is being forced to eat all the ice cream in the freezer right away such a bad thing?

But I always find myself somewhat amazed that at the first sign of a single snowflake, staple items start flying out of stores.

Yes, be prepared. You should always be prepared. But being reasonable isn’t such a bad thing either.

And I don’t get off until later this evening. So leave a loaf or two for me. Just in case. Now that I think of it, I do need storm chips. So leave a few of those, too.
