Man who gave ammo to NS gunman pleads guilty

A man charged with supplying ammunition to the Portapique gunman has pleaded guilty.

A lawyer appeared in court on his behalf Friday.

James Banfield, 65-years-old, is the brother of Lisa Banfield, the gunman’s common-law partner.

He’s scheduled to be sentenced on June 1st.

The pair, along with Brian Brewser, 61-years-old, are charged for giving the gunman .223-calibre Remington cartridges and .40-calibre Smith & Wesson cartridges in the month before the Portapique massacre.

A gunman killed 22 people on a 13-hour rampage in April 2020, the country’s worst ever mass shooting.
