Groundhogs, Lobsters and Almanacs

It’s Groundhog day! This morning one of the famous groundhogs – Wiarton Willie, Punxutawney Phil or Shubenacadie Sam will either see or not see their shadows and we’ll know whether we get 6 more weeks of winter or an early spring.

Here on the South Shore we also have Lucy the Lobster down in Barrington who will crawl out of the ocean at 8am and do the same weather forecasting.

Then there are the Farmer’s Almanacs – two competing annual magazines who have their own special formulas for long range weather.

PETA, the people for the ethical treatment of animals would like us to leave the animals alone and use the seeds from a persimmon tree to forecast spring. (Do those things even grow this far North?)

Do you put any stock in any of the winter forecasting by the groundhogs, the lobster and the almanacs?
