d’Entremont Reacts To Conservative Leadership Change

The Conservative MP for West Nova is reacting to the ousting of Erin O’Toole as party leader.

Chris d’Entremont says it’s a time of transition for Canada, and many have differing views.

He says that’s also reflected within the party.

“We’re hearing lots from our constituents in our communities on directions we should be taking. There were some communities that felt Erin (O’Toole) wasn’t leading us in the right direction,” says d’Entremont.

d’Entremont says having a strong interim leader like Candice Bergen who has a lot respect in caucus is good for the party.

“She’s a great performer in the House of Commons and a very reasonable person. She’ll be a good hand on the tiller for a little while.”

He says he’s hoping to see a permanent leader in place by the fall.

Bergen was named interim leader last night after O’Toole was voted out earlier in the day.
