The Super Bowl is coming up this weekend. I will admit, I like football and I do enjoy watching the game. Hopefully it will be a good game this year. There have been a number of championship games that just haven’t lived up to the hype.
There are always several big parts to any Super Bowl. There’s the game itself. The half time show. And the commercials.
While there have been a few great games over the years, there have also been a few duds. I do hope this is an entertaining game. I am not a big fan of either team, so I’m just hoping they put on a good show.
The half time show, which seems to be almost as big a deal as the game itself, is usually okay. Again, it’s not the reason I’m watching the game, but it is a good added attraction. Although waiting for a couple hours to see an artist sing for a few brief minutes then leave seems a bit much. And usually the half time show ends up being more about the spectacle than the actual performance. Although again, there have been some good ones.
I do tend to look forward to the commercials during the game. I probably should say this, but I happen to live in an area where the American commercials aren’t covered, so I get to see them. And there have been some truly great ones over the years. Although even they have faded recently. Although by the time you pay the price to actually buy air time during the game, I can see how you might not have a lot left over to do a fancy ad that will get everyone’s attention.
But it has been a big part of the package, and I’m hoping for some good ones this year. Although everyone might have to up their game a bit to compete with Chevy’s Walter the Cat commercials. I’m a big fan of Walter.
Hopefully Sunday we get some great ads. And maybe a good football game, too.
