RCMP Focused On Distracted Driving

Nova Scotia RCMP are reminding motorists to pay attention to the road.

905 people were charged with using a cellphone while driving in our province in 2021 according to the RCMP.

They say members will be conducting checkpoints all across Nova Scotia this month to highlight the importance of being focused while driving.

Police say they will continue to target distracted drivers through enforcement in an effort to keep Nova Scotians safe on roadways.

Some tips on how to avoid distracted driving include keeping music at a reasonable volume, keeping your phone out of reach and avoid eating or drinking until you reach your destination.

The fine for distracted driving in our province is $237.50 and four points on your license if convicted.
