MHL to Decide on End of Season Plans

The Maritime Junior Hockey League is hosting a meeting tonight with all-league executives and team owners to discuss how the end of the season will conclude.

With the league having to cancel many games throughout the season it is now impossible to complete the season as originally intended.

Heading into the season the plan was for teams to play 52 games in the regular season, with the last games being played on the last day of March. Now with just one full month left of the regular season, most teams have only played 24-30 games.

In a normal season, teams would have already played 40 games by the time March begins.

While the league is not obliged to reach a decision tonight for the sake of teams and fans they hope to have a plan in place soon.

In previous seasons impacted by COVID-19, the league has allowed all teams into the playoffs due to a shortened regular season.
