Shelburne Group Will Donate To Ukraine

A local organization will donate funds to the people of Ukraine.

The 100+ Women Who Care of Shelburne County are planning to give the funds they would normally donate to a local charity, but this month they’re choosing the Canada-Ukraine Foundation.

They’re planning to give about $6,000.

Executive member Penny Smith says the images out of Ukraine have been difficult.

“And in this situation, many of us want to help, but have no idea what to do. As a group, we’re showing that we care, and are trying to improve the dire situation being faced by the Ukrainian people,” says Smith.

They’re challenging other 100+ groups across the province to also make a donation.

“There was an overwhelming response from our foundation to support this cause in Ukraine, for medical need, shelter and food.”

The province gave $100,000 to the foundation.
