Pandemic Recovery Top Focus For Atlantic Businesses

Pandemic recovery and finding more qualified workers are policy priorities for rebuilding the economy.

This according to the Atlantic Chamber of Commerce.

Brandon Ellis, Senior Manager of Policy for the ACC says it hasn’t been an easy two years.

“Some businesses are still hurting. We’ve suggested more targeted supports for sectors, maybe support for downtowns that might be having trouble getting back on their feet and revitalizing,” says Ellis.

Ellis says these were identified through a survey of the 16,000 businesses within the ACC.

He says improving retention for qualified workers is also important.

“To make sure that we’re not only inviting newcomers to Canada and into our labour market, but we want them to stay here, to grow our population and expand our workforce.”

Support for SMEs and tax reform were also listed as priorities.
