Hockey Canada Cancels Fred Page Cup

The Fred Page Cup is cancelled.

Hockey Canada is scrapping the Eastern Canadian Junior A championship, along with all regional championships in the country.

Instead, a ten-team national tournament will be played this year to crown a Centennial Cup champion.

Summerside were set to host the Fred Page in May.

In a statement, Maritime Junior Hockey League Interim President Cecil Taylor says the host committee and Western Capitals organization spent significant time, effort and money, with great support from the business community.

He says the MHL’s Board of Governors were united in the desire to hold the tournament this year.
