NSP Advise Customers About Texting Scam

Nova Scotia Power is warning customers about a new scam.

In a tweet, the company says they’re hearing about a text message scam that’s been making the rounds.

They say the message will ask the customer to click on a link to receive an award from NSP.

The company says they don’t contact customers through text message.

On their fraud prevention site, NSP says if your account is past due, you’ll receive a written notice , and they would never ask for personal details over text message.

They say you should never respond to the texts and never provide banking or credit card information.
