Province To Release Budget Today

The Progressive Conservative government will table their first provincial budget this afternoon in the legislature.

Finance Minister Allan MacMaster released a record-high capital budget last week, detailing $1.5 billion in spending for 2022-23.

It included about $630 million for hospitals, $508 million for roads and $175 million for schools.

Premier Tim Houston has promised spending to fix the healthcare system in Nova Scotia, and that will likely be a big focus today.

Last year’s budget by the Iain Rankin Liberals forecasted a 584-million-dollar deficit, with revenues of $12 billion.
