More than 10,000 fans packed the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre over the course of last week for the World Sledge Hockey Challenge.
Bridgewater’s mayor, David Walker says the success of the world event was a shining example of a real community effort.
“Over 100 volunteers, some of whom took the week off work, others have checked in the first day of the event and not checking out until the last day. God love them for the number of hours they put in,” said Walker.
Walker credits the group Events Lunenburg County for its bid to bring the international event to the area.
He says it paves the way for other world class events in Lunenburg County in the future.
