Eight Special Olympians are being recognized by the Municipality of Lunenburg.
The athletes are all gold medal winners from last year’s winter and summer games.
Emily Latta won her medal for snowshoeing.
She says fighting the elements is hard but she doesn’t mind.
“It can be when you’re trying to walk through snow and make a trail,” she says. “I just like being outside.”
The coordinator for Lunenburg/Queens says it’s a great opportunity for the athletes to get active and make new friends.
Latta will be taking off for Newfoundland where she’ll compete again at the end of February.
