The latest round of funding from the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency will help various organizations around the South Shore.
Public Services Minister Filomena Tassi visited the Chester Tennis Club to make the funding announcement which will see $157,596 split amongst six organizations that help their communities.
During her remarks, she said the projects selected in this round have a focus on accessibility and active living.
“A vibrant community is a strong community. Strong communities do more than survive: they flourish. The Government of Canada is happy to help communities throughout Atlantic Canada build on their strengths so they can prosper and help residents develop enduring roots.” Minister Tassi said.
Both the Chester and Mahone Bay Tennis clubs were selected as recipients, and both will use their funds to add accessible facilities and courts.
“In regards to the accessibility funding, our government has and will continue to make investments that lower the barriers that exist and limit the ability of those affected,” Minister Tassi said.
The other South Shore organizations set to receive funds include the Liverpool Baseball Club, which will use their portion to upgrade the Dannie Seamen and Murray Smith baseball fields and the Chester Legion is set to receive funds to build an accessible entrance.
In addition to the South Shore investments, two playgrounds in HRM will also receive funds from this investment.
