Update: Search underway for missing boat bound for Lunenburg

Update: Monday, May 30 1:13 p.m.

The Halifax Joint Rescue Coordination Centre says that over the weekend they were able to make contact with the three-person crew of the Stange Situation and the boat is safe and sound.

After launching search efforts on Friday the Strange Adventure made contact with the Canadian Coast Guard and confirmed that their ship is in good shape and they are just running behind schedule.

The JRCC says they will continue monitoring the Strange Situation as it continues on its voyage from the Bahamas to Lunenburg.

The Halifax Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (HJRCC) has mobilized search efforts as they look to locate a missing boat that was bound for Lunenburg.

The HJRCC confirmed in a tweet that they have mobilized the CCGS Earl Grey, and a CC-130E Hercules was dispatched this morning from 413 Squadron Greenwood.

Both search teams are now looking to locate the ship or make radio contact if possible.

The ship named Strange Situation was en route from Bermuda to Lunenburg, but it has not been heard or seen recently.

There has been no confirmation of when or where the ship was last seen, or how many crews are on board.

Adding to concerns is the weather, with Environment Canada issuing a wind warning for most of Nova Scotia and it’s surrounding waters that is currently expected to last into Saturday.
