Greek’s Meats to close after 70 years

Greek’s Meats who have operated on the South Shore for over 70 years will be closing its doors for good on Friday.

In a Facebook post, the family run business said that challenges caused by the pandemic have led to them making the decision to close.

It cited the loss of retail and wholesale customers as the primary need for the closure.

Greek’s Meats is best known for its Lunenburg sausage and pudding recipes.

They were created in the 1940s by founder Viktor Greek, who wanted to make a product that appealed to the many German settlers in the area.

In 2018, the business was sold to the current owners by Richard Greek who took over the business from his father in 1975.
