School Board Trying To Align Boundaries With MODL

The South Shore Regional School Board is trying to match their boundaries with the Municipality of Lunenburg.

There was no public opposition during a consultation last week.

The municipality is reducing its council size to 10 plus a mayor, creating a boundary change.

School Board Chair, Jennifer Naugler, says she supports it.

“As far as my district, it seemed to align better to go up the river rather than jump across. As far as a natural route or natural boundary, it made sense to me.”

Naugler says she hopes the proposed change makes it easier for people to understand who their school member is when they vote.

The proposed change would affect three districts that incoporate the New Germany, Hebbville and Lunenburg areas.

It would mean an increase or reduction in voters for those areas.

No decision has been made, but one is needed by the end of February.
