More Nursing Seats Coming To NSCC, Three Universities

More nursing seats are opening up in Nova Scotia.

The province announced today that 200 new seats will be created by May of next year.

Nova Scotia Community Colleges will see 120 practical nursing seats, while 80 bachelor of science nursing seats will open at three universities.

Health and Wellness Minister Michelle Thompson says $3.2 million will be invested this year, and that will grow to $6.8 million annually when all the seats are ready.

She says there will be more capacity to educate and train the nurses we need in communities across the province.
