An accident in Kings County has claimed the life of a 78-year old woman.

The two-vehicle collision happened yesterday just before 4 p.m. on Highway 12 in South Alton.

RCMP say a van collided with a dump truck.

The woman was a passenger in the van, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 52-year old man in the rear-passenger seat suffered life-threatening injuries, and was airlifted to hospital.

The driver of the van, a 62-year old man was not injured, nor was the driver of the dump truck.

RCMP had a section of Highway 12 closed for several hours, but it has since re-opened.

They say the investigation is continuing.
