Man killed by passing truck after stopping on Highway 102 to help driver

The Mounties say a 76-year-old man has died after stopping to help a car that had struck a deer on Highway 102 near Stewiacke.

Police were on the scene helping an SUV after it collided with the animal at around 9:30 Thursday night in North Alton.

They say the driver wasn’t injured, and they were waiting for a tow when a pickup truck stopped to help.

The man got out of the vehicle and was crossing the highway when he was hit by a pickup truck.
