The conversation about merging two fire departments in Lunenburg County has gotten more complicated.
Mahone Bay has been considering combining resources with Blockhouse to build a new fire station both communities desperately need.
With the announcement Blockhouse is moving forward on their own, Mayor Joe Feeney says progress has been put on hold.
“I think that will seriously impact what, if anything, will happen going forward with any kind of amalgamated service,” he says.
Feeney says they will continue to meet with Blockhouse ratepayers.
Meanwhile, Blockhouse Fire Chief, Paula MacDonald says she still thinks a merger could happen, but work on a new hall couldn’t wait.
