Clean Energy Helps Chester-Based Company Win Provincial Competition

A Chester-based company will be able to expand its services after winning a provincial competition.

Innovacorp hosts the I-3 Technology Start-Up every two years to support early stage companies.

Sustane Technologies Inc. is this year’s provincial winner.

CEO Peter Vinall says their system transforms waste into products like wood pellets.

“We take the garbage that can’t be recycled with developing technology that can completely recycle that material and then clean it until there is virtually no contamination.”

The technology is used at the Kaizer Meadow Landfill and Vinall hopes to have it fully-operational in 2017.

The group received $225,000 to help get to that stage and was also named top waste diversion technology.

Allendale Technologies Inc. of Lockeport also won $25,000 after winning top agricultural technology.
