Nova Scotia’s Serious Incident Response Team has completed an investigation of an RCMP member charged with assault and choking.
Back in February, the Pictou County District RCMP became aware of an on-duty offence committed by Cpl. Mark Kellock.
The matter was immediately referred to the Nova Scotia Serious Incident Response Team
On August 31, the SiRT charged the suspect officer with assault under section 266 of the Criminal Code and choking under section 267 (c) of the Criminal Code. He is scheduled to appear in Pictou Provincial Court on September 26.
Inspector Matco Sirotic said in a statement that these criminal charges are shocking, and they take these incidents seriously.
Kellock has been an RCMP member for 29 years and is currently on administrative duties. His duty status is under review pending an internal code of conduct investigation and court process.
