Board working to keep Shelburne Arena open

The Board of Directors in charge of the Shelburne Arena are still searching for funding options as they look to replace the facility’s broken chiller which is needed in order to have ice.

A new chiller will be needed in order for the ice to be put in and it will cost upwards of $150,000.

The rink is heavily used by minor hockey teams and figure skating along with public skates and rentals.

They hope to secure funding soon and have the facility up and running with ice in the new year.

Editors Note: An earlier version of this story indicated the arena was not heavily used for minor hockey, when in fact it is, along with figure skating and other events.
