I will admit, I will never win any Clark Griswold award. I am not a big decorator. I admire those who are, but I am not.
I like to see places decorated for different occasions. Some people will do Easter, hanging eggs on trees around the yard and things like that. Then when fall hits, the Halloween decorations come out. And there are lots of Halloween decorations to use. Some people go all out, but not all. Then, when Christmas hits, it’s decorations everywhere.
I am not one of those people. I used to put out the occasional fake spider web at Halloween, but stopped that. There were warnings about them trapping birds and other animals, which, when you think about it, makes sense. And I really didn’t do much anyway. There are a few pumpkins around that get put out to mark the occasion.
And Christmas, I’m also fairly restrained. Maybe a few candles in the windows, but that’s about it.
But there are those people who seem to go a bit overboard. I like to see it. I’m just not likely to do it myself.
For those who have a cemetery that has sprouted on the front lawn and witches flying through their trees and ghosts waving and inflatables popping up everywhere, I think it’s really great. But it’s just not me.
Although I will admit I’m glad there are those less restrained in the decorating department than I am. It’s fun to drive around and see what’s out there.
