New Queens Deputy Mayor Jack Fancy Takes Office

Queens County’s latest Deputy Mayor took office this week, officially taking over the position on November 1.

Deputy Mayor Jack Fancy was named to the role in mid-October to takeover for outgoing Deputy Mayor Kevin Muise who had completed his two-year term, which began in 2020.

Deputy Mayor Fancy is now expected to be in the role until the end of October 2024, when a new councilor will need to be appointed to the role.

Deputy Mayor Fancy is currently serving his third term on Council as Councillor for District 5, having first been elected in 2012. Over his years on Council, he has represented Council as a member of the South Shore Housing, Planning Advisory Committee, Heritage Advisory Committee, Queens Place Committee, Region 6 Solid Waste Steering Committee, and others.

The role of the Deputy Mayor in Queens is very similar to that of a normal councilor, however, they have the added responsibility of filling in for the Mayor when they are unavailable.
