Virtual care appointments available on Sunday

Family doctors and nurse practitioners will be providing a limited number of online appointments between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 11, for people on the Need a Family Practice Registry.
People who have a VirtualCareNS account can log in and request an appointment with a primary care provider for their health care needs. Common reasons for a virtual appointment include:
  • Asthma (mild to moderate)
  • Back, joint, or muscle aches and pains
  • Cold and flu
  • Ear aches and sore throat
  • Eye irritation and infections
  • Injuries: cuts, bruises, sprains, minor wounds
  • Mental health
  • Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
  • Prescription renewals (controlled substances are not prescribed)
  • Referrals to health care providers or services (e.g. blood test)
  • Sexual health
  • Skin irritations: rashes, hives, bites/stings, and minor allergic reactions
  • Urinary problems
If your health concern can’t be resolved virtually or if the primary care provider determines you need to be seen face-to-face, they will refer you to an in-person option for care.
Please note: At times, the wait to see a provider online may take up to three hours. If you receive a message that VirtualCareNS is “at capacity,” please try again later.
There are other temporary options to access primary care this weekend:
