Canadian Senior Curling: Saskatchewan, Ontario Win Gold

A record fifth straight Canadian Senior Curling Championship for Saskatchewan’s women’s team.

Sherry Anderson’s team defeated Quebec 7-3 in the championship game Saturday at Mariners Centre in Yarmouth.

Anderson says she’s extremely pleased with how they played.

“We’re just honoured to be able to represent Canada in curling event. It’s been a wild ride that started in Digby in 2016, we are so excited to head to Korea for Worlds,” says Anderson.

Nova Scotia were able to claim bronze with 7-6 victory over Ontario.

Team Ontario edged Team Alberta 7-6 in the men’s final at the Canadian Senior Curling Championships in Yarmouth on Saturday.

It’s the first senior title for team leader Howard Rajala.

He had nothing but praise for Yarmouth, and the ice at Mariners Centre.

“Whenever you get to curl on arena ice, the ice technicians did an amazing job, along with the organizing committee and Yarmouth itself. Everybody got behind it, and it was just a lot of fun,” says Rajala.

Nova Scotia’s men’s team finished fourth after a loss in the bronze medal game to Manitoba.
