Once again this year, I have a prime spot already picked out for our New Year’s celebrations. My favourite chair, right in front of the TV.
That’s been our habit for a few years now. For many people, the last couple of years have been that way, but we started way before then.
Not that we didn’t go out. Over the years we have been to many different celebrations for the New Year. We have been outdoors for fireworks, we have been in bars and clubs, we have been at house parties. They all have good things about them, but so does staying home.
I know some people will have parties and shoot off guns and fireworks and celebrate in many ways. While I enjoy doing things like that, I really don’t have an overwhelming desire to do it.
I find that with staying home, I tend to not over eat or over indulge in other ways. So I feel better on the following day. And to be honest, even just staying up until midnight has become a bit of a chore.
So once again this year we will most likely stay home, maybe nibbling some cheese and sipping a beverage or two. Just to pass the time until the New Year arrives.
And hoping to stay awake.
