Halifax Ready To Roar At World Junior Gold Medal Game

Canada can capture World Junior gold with a win over Czechia in Halifax tonight.

This comes after an electric 6-2 win over the Americans last night.

Local sports commentator Logan Delaney says the noise in the building got up to 108 decibels at one point.

“It averaged around 95 throughout the night. A motorcycle runs at 95 decibels, and that’s basically putting your ear right beside the engine. Hearing loss can occur at over 93 decibels for a sustained period of time, so to say it was loud in that building was an understatement,” says Delaney.

Delaney says the city is buzzing, and he likes Canada’s chances against the Czechs, who they lost to in their first game of the tournament on Boxing Day.

He says tonight’s atmosphere should be the best yet, as Canada tries for back-to-back gold medals.

Twenty years ago in Halifax, Canada lost to Alex Ovechkin and the Russians in the gold medal game.

The Czechs have not won gold since 2001.
