HMCS Glace Bay and HMCS Moncton Deploy to West Africa

Fair winds and following seas to two naval ships after they departed Halifax this morning.

His Majesty’s Canadian Ship, Glace Bay and Moncton head for Operation Projection West Africa 2023.

The two naval ships are going to West Africa, marking the 6th year Canada has sent two Maritime Coastal Defense Vessels to the area.

The operation will have 92 sailors from both ships conduct exercises, engagements and port visits with allies and partners, promoting peace and stability in support of the rules-based international order.

The two ships will also participate in Exercise Obangame 2023. A multi-national exercise that will focus on battling piracy, terrorism and smuggling in order to build partner capacity and foster regional security partnerships.
