The Liberals are calling on the Houston Government to use pharmacists to ease some pressure on the health care system.
In a news release this morning, Leader Zach Churchill says pharmacists can fill in some of the gaps, especially in rural communities.
They say other provinces, such as Ontario, are using pharmacists to treat minor ailments and initiatives like these, could reduce 1/3 of avoidable ER visits.
“Pharmacists have demonstrated their ability to address some of the gaps in our healthcare system, which is why we need to give them more opportunities to help Nova Scotians,” says Liberal Leader Zach Churchill. “With an unprecedented strain on our hospitals, the Houston government needs to find new ways to ensure people have access to the care they need, and pharmacists can be the answer to alleviating the strain in our ERs.”
