‘Lucy The Lobster’ Ready For Groundhog Day In Barrington

Shubenacadie Sam isn’t the only one with predictions.

On a day normally reserved for groundhogs, Lucy the Lobster will take the spotlight in Barrington.

For the fifth straight year, Lucy will make her way out of her crate on the Cape Sable Island Causeway tomorrow at 8 a.m.

Director of Marketing and Tourism for Barrington Suzy Atwood says Lucy has become very popular.

“People aren’t expecting a prediction from a lobster, it’s a bit unusual of course. We’ve had a lot of fun with Lucy, and she loves the attention,” says Atwood.

If Lucy sees her shadow, we’re in for six more weeks of winter.

The event also helps kick off the annual Nova Scotia Lobster Crawl.

“It’s really why the festival was created, to celebrate the industry, but celebrate it in the height of the season, when the lobster is at its best,” says Atwood.

The event will be livestreamed on the lobster crawl’s Facebook page.
