NDP says more inclusion needed as we celebrate International Women’s Day

As we celebrate International Women’s Day, the NDP says it’s good to acknowledge progress made toward gender equality.

But a lot work still needs to be done.

“International Women’s Day is a global day to recognize and celebrate women and girls’ social, economic, cultural, and political achievements. It’s also a time to raise awareness of the progress made towards achieving gender equality and the work that still remains to be done. This year’s theme of Embracing Equity has many meanings to many groups and acknowledges the work still to come on building workplaces and communities that are more equitable and inclusive.”

This includes making sure frontline staff, in places like schools and hospitals, who are mostly women, earn a living wage.

The opposition party says “when we embrace equity, we build communities and workplaces that include more women and gender diverse people that are stronger and healthier for everyone.”
