Queens Place Emera Centre gets $200K for new Zamboni

Queens Place Emera Centre in Liverpool is set to receive a much-needed boost in funding for sports and recreation, thanks to the provincial government. Queens MLA Kim Masland announced today that the government will provide $205,000 towards the purchase of a new zamboni for the arena.

MLA Masland emphasized the importance of rinks in small communities, saying that they provide a safe and social space for families to stay physically active and connect with their neighbors. She also noted that the new zamboni will ensure a safer ice surface for everyone who uses the rink.

This funding is part of a larger PC election promise to support community groups, municipalities, and non-profit organizations in upgrading and repairing local rinks. In total, 14 facilities across the province have received over $18.3 million in funding for repairs and upgrades through the Department of Communities, Culture, Tourism, and Heritage.

The funding will help ensure that rinks like Queens Place Arena remain sustainable and accessible for many years to come, providing important spaces for sports, recreation, and community connection.
