Houston says nurses on maternity leave will get incentive

More talk about healthcare incentives in the legislature.

Liberal leader Zach Churchill led off Question Period yesterday by asking why some nurses aren’t getting the 10-thousand dollar incentive, announced by the province last week.

He said he’s heard from some who are on maternity or sick leave that say they don’t qualify.

Premier Tim Houston said those with questions should reach out to their employer.

“I will say very clearly, in the case of those on maternity leave, they are eligible for the bonus, for sure,” Houston said.

Later, NDP leader Claudia Chender asked Houston that if money is no object, why won’t he help family practices stay open.

The Premier called Chender and the NDP negative, and said those affected will still have access to primary care.
